Capstone Copper Ends Month-Long Strike at Mantoverde Mine in Chile

Capstone Copper has finalized a three-year collective bargaining agreement with its final outstanding labor group at the Mantoverde mine in Chile, ending a month-long strike that had significantly curtailed production since early January.

Capstone Copper Ends Month-Long Strike at Mantoverde Mine in Chile

The Canadian base-metals producer announced late Thursday that Union #2 ratified the multi-year deal, representing the last of four labor groups to reach terms with the company. The agreement concludes a period of industrial action that disrupted one of the region's notable copper operations.

Restoring Full Production

The strike, which commenced on Jan. 2, forced the Mantoverde facility to operate at roughly half of its normal capacity for several weeks. Following the ratification, Capstone Copper confirmed it has begun the process of ramping the mine back to full output to recover lost momentum.

This resolution provides the Vancouver-based miner with a stable labor environment through 2027. According to the company's statement, the focus now shifts to operational efficiency as the global demand for base metals remains a primary driver for its Chilean assets.
