UAE’s G42 and Vietnam Partners Launch $1 Billion AI Infrastructure Deal

Abu Dhabi-based AI powerhouse G42 has joined forces with Vietnam’s FPT Corp and Viet Thai Group to deploy a $1 billion AI and cloud infrastructure project. The initiative aims to establish Vietnam as a regional technology hub through the development of three major data centers designed to handle both public and private sector workloads.

UAE’s G42 and Vietnam Partners Launch $1 Billion AI Infrastructure Deal

The partnership, formalized on Monday, centers on consumption commitments worth up to $1 billion. Under the agreement, the consortium will build significant cloud capacity across three strategic locations in Vietnam. This move is part of G42’s broader "Intelligence Grid" strategy, which seeks to link global AI infrastructure while maintaining national data sovereignty.

Building a Regional Tech Hub

Vietnam is the latest Southeast Asian nation to see a surge in high-value tech investment as global giants like Microsoft and Google pour billions into the region. The demand is driven by a shift toward domestic data hosting and the rapid adoption of generative AI. FPT Corp, a leading domestic telecommunications firm, and Viet Thai Group, a major retail operator, represent the local backbone of the venture.

Beyond hardware, the deal includes a comprehensive roadmap for national AI-skilling and workforce development. FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh emphasized that strategic alliances are essential for Vietnam to advance in semiconductors, cloud computing, and cybersecurity. "Vietnam clearly understands that it cannot move forward alone," Binh stated regarding the project's collaborative nature.

G42 continues to expand its international reach following a high-profile partnership with OpenAI to build massive data centers in Abu Dhabi. Backed by the UAE’s state-owned investment firm and Microsoft, G42’s entry into Vietnam signals a deepening of tech ties between the Gulf and Southeast Asia.
