Malfitano brings over 25 years of experience in high-stakes corporate restructuring and asset monetization. His background includes founding the advisory firm Malfitano Partners and steering complex transformations for major retail brands such as Toys "R" Us, Payless ShoeSource, and Ascena Retail Group. Before his advisory career, he practiced bankruptcy law at Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor and holds a Juris Doctor from Temple University.
Dan Shribman, CEO of GA Group, noted that the hire is intended to expand the company’s market presence as the retail sector faces ongoing volatility. Malfitano’s mandate focuses on scaling service offerings and leveraging the firm’s disposition vertical. Carpenter, who helped build the business over several decades, will remain involved with the leadership team to ensure stability during the handover. The appointment comes as the firm marks 50 years of operation in the financial advisory and asset disposition space.
