The U-C6850 is engineered to handle data-intensive environments by providing up to 320 Gbps of total switching capacity. Configurable with either eight 40GbE or 32 10GbE interfaces, the unit supports advanced Layer2 and Layer3 protocols, facilitating low-latency data exchange across sensors, compute resources, and communication networks. According to Aitech product manager Alex Trigoub, the device allows defense contractors to modernize legacy platforms while mitigating the lifecycle risks often associated with proprietary, closed-system architectures.
Designed for SWaP-C optimization—size, weight, power, and cost—the 3U VPX board delivers high port density without excessive power draw. This efficiency is critical for system integrators tasked with upgrading networking capabilities in aircraft, naval vessels, and ground vehicles. The switch complements Aitech’s existing M622 XMC-based offering, providing engineers with additional flexibility when selecting hardware for specific mission requirements. The U-C6850 is now available for deployment in development environments, reinforcing the company's focus on standardized, interoperable building blocks for the defense sector.
