Founded in 1983, JR Holland operates out of two Newcastle-area facilities spanning 65,000 square feet. The distributor currently manages a fleet of 32 temperature-controlled vehicles, executing over 3,000 weekly deliveries of produce, meat, and dairy to the hospitality and public sectors. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will retain its brand identity and existing management team to ensure operational continuity for its 120 employees and established supplier base.
GrubMarket CEO Mike Xu intends to fold JR Holland into the company’s broader technological ecosystem, which includes the WholesaleWare ERP platform and GrubAssist AI tools. By deploying these digital solutions, the firm plans to automate logistics and enhance inventory traceability for the UK operations. This acquisition follows a period of rapid international growth for GrubMarket, which now maintains a presence in eleven countries, including recent expansions into South Africa and Spain.
