Oracle Health Automates Medical Coding and Chart Review with AI

Oracle Health has launched a suite of AI-driven capabilities designed to reduce administrative burdens for U.S. clinicians. By integrating automated professional fee coding, real-time dictation, and intelligent chart summarization directly into existing workflows, the company aims to reclaim time previously lost to manual documentation and record navigation.

The expansion of the Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent targets the intersection of clinical care and revenue cycle management. New features allow the system to analyze patient conversations to suggest professional fee charge codes during ambulatory visits. While the AI provides recommendations, clinicians retain final approval authority, a design intended to minimize coding errors and accelerate the revenue cycle without sacrificing oversight.

Beyond billing, the platform now addresses the time-intensive task of chart preparation. The system aggregates medical history, lab results, and medication lists into concise summaries, surfacing relevant clinical context before or during appointments. This shift allows practitioners to bypass manual record searching. Furthermore, the introduction of clinician-controlled dictation enables real-time speech-to-text transcription directly into electronic health record fields. According to Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, these tools are built to keep care teams focused on patient interaction rather than administrative data entry. This update follows a period of growth for the platform, which has already saved physicians over 400,000 hours in documentation time since its initial launch.
