Inspiren Adds Two-Way Voice to Senior Living Emergency Systems

Caregivers can now speak directly with residents the moment an emergency call is triggered, thanks to an update to the Inspiren eCall platform. By integrating live voice communication with existing visual alert data, the company aims to eliminate the uncertainty that often leaves staff arriving at rooms without prior context.

The expansion introduces two core functions: Two-Way Voice and Alert Claiming. When a resident presses a pendant or help button, the alert appears on the staff mobile app. Once a caregiver claims the alert, they can initiate a live audio session through the room’s AUGi device. This allows staff to assess the urgency of a situation and provide immediate reassurance while en route. The claiming feature also creates a formal record of staff ownership, preventing multiple caregivers from responding to the same incident.

Michael Wang, founder and chief clinical officer, noted that the system addresses the disconnect between a resident’s need for help and a caregiver’s lack of information. Phil Lord, COO of Solera Senior Living, reported that the technology has improved response confidence by letting staff understand the situation before entering the room. Inspiren plans to discuss the impact of these features during a webinar on September 17 featuring representatives from Solera Senior Living. The update is currently rolling out in phases to communities already utilizing the Inspiren ecosystem.
