UroGen Pharma Bets $7 Million on IntraGel’s Oncology Gel Platform

UroGen Pharma has committed up to $7 million in equity to Nazareth-based IntraGel Therapeutics, securing an exclusive option to acquire the rights to TumoCure. The deal grants UroGen access to a proprietary biodegradable gel platform designed to deliver localized cancer treatments while minimizing systemic toxicity.

The investment centers on TumoCure, an investigational therapy currently preparing for Phase 2 clinical trials. Designed for patients with locally advanced, inoperable head and neck cancers, the drug uses IntraGel’s SRGel technology to provide sustained release of cisplatin directly into tumor sites. Early data presented at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting indicated that the treatment was well-tolerated and showed anti-tumor activity in patients who had previously exhausted standard options.

Beyond TumoCure, UroGen gains broader utility from the SRGel platform. The research license allows the company to develop up to three additional oncology products by combining the gel matrix with its own compounds. Peter Siman, CEO of IntraGel, described the collaboration as a critical validation of their technology, which utilizes a water-free, fatty-acid-based matrix to facilitate long-acting drug delivery. For UroGen, the move expands its pipeline beyond urothelial cancers, potentially enabling new therapeutic applications across a range of solid tumors including skin, brain, and gastrointestinal cancers.
