Nashville Industrial Facade Transformed by Trompe L'oeil Mural

At 1500 Elm Hill Pike, a sprawling 750-square-foot painting now forces commuters to look twice, turning the blank exterior of Industrial Rubber & Gasket into a hyper-realistic illusion of a bustling emergency room.

The project, executed by Franklin-based firm Murals & More, required two months of hand-painting to achieve its trompe l'oeil effect. By creating the visual impression that the building's brick skin has been peeled back to expose interior activity, the mural serves as a metaphor for the urgent, high-stakes nature of the industrial supply business. Michael Cooper, the lead artist and owner of Murals & More, views the installation as a strategic disruption of the urban landscape. He notes that the unexpected imagery is designed to stop drivers in their tracks, transforming an otherwise overlooked industrial structure into a local landmark.

This commission marks a shift in how regional B2B companies are approaching branding, moving away from static signage toward immersive public art. Beyond their work for corporate clients like IR-G, the firm has expanded its footprint across the Nashville metro area and nationwide, applying similar depth-focused techniques to residential properties and short-term rentals. The complete transformation process, from the initial concept to the final brushstroke, has been documented in a time-lapse video, highlighting the meticulous detail required to maintain the illusion of three-dimensional depth on a flat, industrial wall.
