AnySignal Secures Space Force Deal for Satellite Mesh Networking

The U.S. Space Force has tapped Los Angeles-based AnySignal to demonstrate advanced satellite-to-satellite communications, aiming to build a resilient data backbone. The contract tasks the company with perfecting real-time sensor data transmission across orbital assets, a critical requirement for maintaining operational superiority in contested space environments.

CEO John Malsbury noted that the shift toward space-to-space connectivity is essential for national security, moving away from a traditional reliance on ground stations. AnySignal plans to transition from initial capability testing to active on-orbit demonstrations, utilizing its proprietary software-defined radios and mesh networking architecture. This project builds on the company's prior efforts to harden military satellite communications against interference or direct attack.

Operating from a 22,000-square-foot facility in Torrance, California, the firm maintains full control over its supply chain, manufacturing both hardware and software in-house. With hundreds of units already deployed across LEO, MEO, and lunar missions, the company has positioned itself as a primary provider for secure, decentralized communications. This latest award reinforces the military's push to ensure that sensor data remains accessible even when adversaries attempt to degrade or destroy U.S. network infrastructure.
