GameChange Energy commissions first solar tracker project in New Zealand

In the Manawatu-Whanganui region, the 23 MWp Dannevirke Solar Farm has officially come online, marking GameChange Energy’s first successful deployment in New Zealand. The project, developed by Bright Fern Energy, serves as a critical test case for utility-scale solar infrastructure designed to withstand high winds and seismic activity.

The facility utilizes the Genius Tracker 1P 4 String system, incorporating TopoSmart technology to navigate the site's undulated terrain. Engineers relied on pre-assembled components to accelerate construction, overcoming the logistical hurdles inherent in the region's landscape. For Bright Fern Energy, this site is the inaugural delivery from a broader development pipeline that exceeds 550 MW across New Zealand’s North and South Islands.

Cassidy Prent, chief executive of Bright Fern Energy, credited the collaboration for the project's ability to meet technical requirements on schedule. Vaibhav Joshi, managing director for Oceania and Southeast Asia at GameChange Energy, noted that the site’s performance under specific environmental constraints validates their engineering-led approach. As developers in the region shift toward long-term reliability, this installation signals a growing momentum for large-scale solar projects capable of managing complex site variables.
