California Homeowners Offered $18,300 to Boost Energy Autonomy

California residents can now access up to $18,300 in combined state and utility incentives to install dcbel’s Ara Home Energy Station. By integrating solar power, battery storage, and bidirectional electric vehicle charging, the program aims to help homeowners lower energy costs while fortifying their residences against grid instability and rolling blackouts.

The financial package merges the California Connected Home Rebate—providing up to $13,800—with Pacific Gas and Electric’s V2X program, which offers an additional $4,500. The PG&E component includes a base incentive of $2,500, with higher amounts for those in disadvantaged communities and a specific $1,500 bonus for early adopters. With fewer than 50 spots remaining in the current enrollment phase, the company is urging interested households to act quickly.

At the core of this setup is the Ara Home Energy Station, which functions as an intelligent energy hub. The system utilizes patented technology to manage energy flow, allowing homeowners to store solar power or use an electric vehicle’s battery to sustain home electricity for up to 10 days during outages. According to dcbel CEO Marc-André Forget, the goal is to provide residents with direct control over their power consumption and costs while supporting grid resilience. The company manages the qualification process and installation coordination through its own specialists.
