Silvi Cement Scales Rail Network with New South Carolina and Ohio Hubs

Silvi Materials is pushing into the Southeast and Midwest markets by launching two high-capacity rail terminals in Greenville, South Carolina, and Columbus, Ohio. These infrastructure projects, slated for completion in late 2026, aim to shorten supply chains for Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag across the Eastern U.S.

The Greenville facility, currently under construction, is scheduled to begin operations in October. Its primary function is to anchor the company's regional logistics in the Southeast. Simultaneously, the Columbus project—first announced in 2025—is on track for a fourth-quarter launch, offering 24/7 loading capabilities to meet industrial demand throughout Central Ohio.

Laurence J. Silvi II, co-president of the Fairless Hills-based firm, framed the expansion as a strategic shift toward rail-dependent logistics to ensure supply chain reliability. By moving materials closer to the point of consumption, the company intends to increase its footprint in the ready-mix concrete and mining sectors. These terminals serve as the latest additions to a vertically integrated distribution network that has been expanding since the company’s founding in 1947.
