CropX Acquires SCIO to Build Self-Improving Agronomic Platform

By integrating laboratory-grade spectroscopy into its digital ecosystem, CropX Technologies aims to close the loop between field recommendations and final harvest results. The acquisition of SCIO, a specialist in portable near-infrared sensing, marks the eighth expansion for the Tel Aviv-based firm since 2020, signaling a shift toward data-driven outcomes.

The merger bridges the gap between agronomic advice and real-world performance. SCIO brings 44 granted patents and enterprise-level sensing technology to the CropX platform, allowing for non-destructive analysis of crop composition and quality. This data creates a feedback loop where post-harvest results directly refine future predictive models, effectively building a self-improving intelligence system for growers.

For CropX CEO Tomer Tzach, the acquisition addresses the missing link in modern farming: the ability to learn from outcomes rather than just providing suggestions. Beyond the technical integration, the move provides CropX with a growing SaaS revenue stream and an expanded footprint across the global agricultural value chain. SCIO, which maintains its headquarters in the United States, will leverage CropX’s existing presence in over 70 countries to scale its portable testing tools. The financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, though CropX has secured $64 million in funding since its inception to fuel its aggressive acquisition strategy.
