The leadership changes aim to accelerate Mirai’s partner-driven model, which focuses on solving the industry-wide challenge of delivering genetic payloads to specific cells beyond the liver. By integrating machine learning with modular lipid nanoparticle (LNP) design, the company seeks to provide a faster, de-risked pathway for partners to move programs into clinical trials. Torchilin brings over two decades of experience in life sciences, including a tenure as CEO of Hamilton Thorne and senior roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Jagesh V. Shah will spearhead the company’s scientific strategy, leveraging his background in quantitative biology and systems biology from his time at Sana Biotechnology and Harvard Medical School. Meanwhile, Jeff Luber joins as Board Chair, tasked with overseeing the company’s growth and financing strategy. Luber, a four-time CEO with experience at companies like Exact Sciences, is expected to help Mirai navigate its current inflection point as it scales its integrated delivery engine. The company, founded by Flagship Pioneering, continues to emphasize the importance of precise in vivo performance to improve the tolerability and manufacturability of next-generation therapies.
