Neura Defense Systems Rebrands to Volantyx Aerospace

St. Petersburg-based Neura Defense Systems has rebranded as Volantyx Aerospace, shifting its identity to reflect a broader focus on distributed edge-intelligence architecture. While the corporate name changes, the firm retains its defense division to address the growing market for detecting non-emitting, autonomous swarm drones.

The rebranding signals the company’s evolution from a niche defense developer into a platform-agnostic aerospace firm. CEO Sam Talari noted that the original mission—detecting drones that do not broadcast radio signals—necessitated an intelligence layer capable of fusing data from radar, acoustic, and electro-optical sensors. By processing this information at the edge using NVIDIA Jetson Orin-class hardware, the system eliminates reliance on cloud connectivity and vulnerable radio links.

Volantyx enters a market bolstered by the SAFER SKIES Act and a $1.5 billion Department of Homeland Security contract vehicle. As federal regulations prioritize airspace sovereignty, the company aims to fill gaps left by traditional electronic warfare systems that fail against pre-programmed, fiber-guided, or silent aircraft. Beyond counter-UAS, the firm is exploring orbital conjunction assessment through its Neura Orbital initiative and federated learning via Neura Compute. Although the company remains in the development stage with 13 provisional patent applications, it plans to expand its product line to include effectors by 2027.
