The confidence among agency owners is reflected in their balance sheets: 86% of respondents plan to increase their marketing spending for 2027, with a majority expecting budget hikes exceeding 10%. Not a single agency surveyed intends to reduce its promotional outreach. Lindsay Pearlman, president of Travel Leaders Network, noted that these business owners are actively positioning their operations to capitalize on clear market opportunities.
Cruising remains the primary engine for this projected expansion. Ninety percent of agencies anticipate growth in river cruises, while 87% expect gains in the premium cruise category. Beyond the water, independent, escorted, and group travel segments are also showing strong momentum. To support this growth, agencies are prioritizing investments in new office technology and the recruitment of independent contractors.
Artificial intelligence has transitioned from a novelty to a core operational tool. Nearly every respondent plans to utilize AI by 2027, primarily for marketing communications, agent bios, and fraud detection. Agencies are further leveraging network-specific tools, such as the TravelLeaders.com lead generation platform and social media support programs, to maintain a competitive edge. As the industry evolves, the focus has shifted toward integrating these advanced digital resources with traditional high-touch service models.
