Construction giant Skanska has finalized an $85 million agreement to expand the Florida Gulf Coast University campus in Fort Myers. The project centers on the development of Marieb Hall South, a 14,700-square-meter facility designed to serve as the campus's largest academic building. Once completed, the structure will house a mix of classrooms, administrative offices, and concession areas. A primary focus of the facility is its advanced health sciences wing, which will feature specialized laboratories and a dedicated simulation suite for students.

Site development and infrastructure work commenced in the summer of 2026. Skanska expects the construction phase to span two years, with the final handover scheduled for the summer of 2028.
