Ploetz, who joined the team earlier this year as Estate and Sales Director, steps into the role following a two-decade career in luxury hospitality. His background includes leadership positions with The Peninsula Hotels and Four Seasons, as well as operational experience with the José Andrés Group. In his new capacity, he succeeds Justin Vazquez, who spent eight years guiding the brand from its initial vintages through the recent launch of the estate’s hospitality program.
The appointment supports the vision of founders Lance and Neil Ellman, who established the 20-acre vineyard in 1999. The estate, situated on an ancient riverbed near Soda Canyon, focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon under the guidance of winemaker Andy Erickson, known for his work with Screaming Eagle and Harlan Estate. With the winemaking process now fully integrated on-site, the family aims to balance their technical production with the intimate, guest-focused environment Ploetz cultivated during his tenure in high-end hospitality. Vazquez will remain affiliated with the brand in a creative capacity as he moves to launch a new venture.
