AusperBio Secures $120 Million to Scale Hepatitis B Treatment Pipeline

San Francisco-based AusperBio has closed a $120 million Series C financing round, bringing its total capital raised since 2024 to $360 million. The influx of funding is earmarked for the Phase 3 clinical program of its lead hepatitis B candidate, AHB-137, as the company pushes toward commercialization readiness.

The financing round was led by an undisclosed strategic investor, with significant participation from RA Capital Management. Existing backers, including Qiming Venture Partners and CDH Investments, also participated in the round. This capital injection provides the necessary runway to transition the firm from a clinical-stage developer to a commercial-ready entity.

Beyond AHB-137, the company plans to accelerate the development of AHB-171, an siRNA candidate utilizing the firm's proprietary Au-HALO liver-targeting platform. By combining its Med-Oligo ASO technology with these delivery systems, AusperBio aims to move beyond current viral suppression methods to achieve a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B, a condition affecting 254 million people globally. CEO Guofeng Cheng noted that the funding marks an inflection point, enabling the company to expand its pipeline of oligonucleotide therapeutics while building out the manufacturing and regulatory infrastructure required for global market entry.
