HiRO and Differentia Biotech Partner to Simulate Clinical Trials

With drug development costs ballooning past $2.6 billion per asset, Harvest Integrated Research Organization and Differentia Biotech are shifting the industry standard from manual testing to AI-driven virtual modeling. The two firms signed a memorandum of understanding to integrate digital twin technology directly into global clinical trial operations.

The partnership combines HiRO’s operational footprint—which spans 1,600 trials across 85 countries—with Differentia’s AI-powered modeling platforms. By utilizing high-fidelity digital twins, the collaborators aim to optimize patient selection and reduce the number of subjects required for complex studies in oncology, rare diseases, and gene therapy.

Karen Chu, CEO and founder of HiRO, emphasized that the industry requires smarter trial designs to combat declining R&D productivity. This sentiment is echoed by Differentia leadership, who argue that the regulatory landscape is increasingly receptive to model-informed drug development. By simulating outcomes before initiating human trials, the companies intend to de-risk investments and compress timelines for biotech sponsors navigating high-stakes development cycles.
