The acquisition bridges Ballard’s high-tech fuel cell production with GeoPura’s established Hydrogen Power Units and green hydrogen distribution network. By integrating GeoPura’s Energy-as-a-Service model, Ballard aims to offer a turnkey solution for off-grid power needs, ranging from construction sites and film production to emergency infrastructure. The deal includes 82.5 million pounds in cash and over 50 million shares, granting former GeoPura shareholders a 14.1% stake in the combined entity.

Following the close, Andrew Cunningham has stepped into the role of President at Ballard, reporting to CEO Marty Neese. Cunningham, alongside former UK Business Minister Lord Richard Harrington, has also joined the Ballard Board of Directors. This leadership expansion is intended to accelerate the company’s push into North American markets while reinforcing its competitive footing across Europe. The agreement also includes up to 27.5 million pounds in potential contingent payments tied to future financial milestones as the company scales its integrated ecosystem.
