Norman Young: From Union Tradesman to Construction CEO

Before scaling DCMC Construction LLC to multimillion-dollar revenues, Norman Young spent three decades navigating New York's union trades. Now recognized by Marquis Who's Who, the Brooklyn-born executive is leveraging a background in masonry and structural steel to expand his firm’s reach from the Tri-State area into the Florida market.

Young’s trajectory shifted in 2012 when he founded his own company to participate in a New York state pilot program for minority contractors. Under his leadership, the firm quickly outperformed expectations, doubling the program's initial revenue targets and eventually emerging as the top-performing entity among 675 participants. This rapid growth provided the capital to diversify into bridge building, heavy highway infrastructure, and commercial construction management.

His portfolio now includes high-profile regional landmarks such as the Albany Nanotech Complex, the Williamsburg Bridge, and the renovation of the Cathedral of All Saints. Beyond project delivery, Young maintains a focus on union labor and prevailing wages, a philosophy rooted in his own early professional years as an electrical worker and masonry apprentice. As he prepares to open a new office in Miami, Young continues to mentor entrepreneurs at institutions like NYU and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, while eyeing a transition into real estate development.
