Emboline Launches Embolic Protection System in U.S. Hospitals

Two transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedures at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center marked the first U.S. commercial use of the Emboliner Embolic Protection System. Performed by Dr. Tamim Nazif on October 1, 2026, the milestone follows the device's recent 510(k) clearance from federal regulators.

The Emboliner is engineered to capture and remove debris generated during structural heart procedures, addressing the risk of stroke and other complications associated with transcatheter aortic valve replacement. Its deployment in New York signals the start of a controlled rollout across leading medical centers nationwide. Dr. Nazif, who previously served as a co-principal investigator for the PROTECT H2H clinical trial, noted that the device fills a critical gap in patient safety by providing comprehensive systemic protection.

Scott Russell, CEO of Emboline, credited his team for achieving commercial availability within three weeks of receiving FDA approval. The company, based in Santa Cruz, California, continues to focus on refining its portfolio of cardiovascular technologies. These innovations stem from intellectual property developed by serial medical entrepreneur Dr. Amir Belson, whose background includes founding several specialized medical device firms.
