Freeport LNG Resumes Normal Operations Following Compressor Repair

Texas-based Freeport LNG is stabilizing its natural gas intake after a brief maintenance shutdown of its second liquefaction train. Data from LSEG indicates that feedgas flows are climbing back to 1.9 billion cubic feet per day, effectively erasing the supply dip that occurred over the weekend.

Freeport LNG Resumes Normal Operations Following Compressor Repair

The facility, which possesses a production capacity exceeding 17 million metric tons annually, serves as a significant driver of domestic gas demand. When the plant throttles its intake, the surplus gas remains within the U.S. market, influencing price dynamics across the pipeline network. Monday’s projected intake represents a sharp recovery from the 1.2 billion cubic feet per day recorded during the three-day maintenance window.

Operational hiccups at the site remain a point of sensitivity for energy traders, particularly given the facility's history. The plant underwent a prolonged closure following a major explosion in 2022, and more recently, Train 1 experienced similar compressor-related downtime in August 2025. With current flows returning to pre-shutdown averages, the facility appears to have successfully resolved the latest technical hurdle without further impacting export commitments.
