GCCL and LabConnect Form Alliance for Global Clinical Trials

South Korean central laboratory GCCL and North Carolina-based LabConnect signed a memorandum of understanding on October 12 to bridge their clinical trial operations. By integrating regional expertise across North America and the Asia-Pacific, the two firms aim to streamline complex multi-regional studies through shared logistics and project management systems.

The partnership formalizes a professional relationship spanning two decades. During a signing ceremony at GCCL headquarters in Seoul, executives including CEO Kwan-goo Cho, LabConnect founder Jeff Mayhew, and Senior Vice President Joshua Gentile outlined a strategy to unify their service offerings. The collaboration focuses on identifying new business opportunities, joint marketing, and creating a cohesive framework for client communication and project execution.

For LabConnect, the move provides a direct conduit into the Asia-Pacific market, allowing them to pair their global alliance of specialty laboratories with GCCL’s localized execution and logistics capabilities. Jeff Mayhew noted that the integration is designed to simplify study orchestration for sponsors conducting trials in South Korea and the broader region. GCCL, a subsidiary of the GC Group, adds this alliance to a portfolio that recently earned the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Best Practices Customer Value Leadership Award. Both companies intend to implement shared systemic processes to reduce the operational risks typically associated with large-scale, international pharmaceutical research.
