Federal Reserve officials offered divergent outlooks on the path of monetary policy. New York Fed President John Williams indicated in a Bloomberg interview that he sees no current necessity for rate hikes in 2027, signaling a potential plateau in the central bank's tightening cycle.
Conversely, Boston Fed President Susan Collins maintained a more hawkish stance. She stated she anticipates further rate increases before the end of the year, aiming to secure a durable return to the Fed’s inflation target. Collins noted that subsequent policy decisions will remain strictly tethered to incoming economic data, leaving the trajectory for next year open to adjustment based on future readings.
