This acquisition brings together the Scottsdale-based bank’s in-house donor management system with IVI’s expansive network of over 200 clinics. The integration seeks to streamline access for patients requiring donor eggs or sperm, a segment of the market experiencing significant growth as more women postpone childbirth. According to the recently released IVI Institute Fertility Barometer, 34% of U.S. women are having their first child at least six years later than originally planned, necessitating greater reliance on advanced reproductive medicine.
Javier Sanchez-Prieto, CEO of IVI Institute, noted that the collaboration addresses a widening gap in patient care by offering increased transparency and donor choice. Diana Thomas, who founded the bank in 2004, will maintain existing clinic partnerships while operating under the broader IVI umbrella. The bank, which manages a network of over 500 screened donors, will now leverage IVI’s global laboratory standards to enhance patient outcomes, which currently see pregnancy rates per embryo transfer hovering around 60% in donor-egg cycles. This move follows the recent launch of the IVI Institute and its inaugural global study, which surveyed 24,000 women to identify the primary barriers to family building.
