The Omaha-based transportation firm now anticipates quarterly revenue between $946 million and $951 million, missing the $955 million consensus estimate from FactSet analysts. The profit outlook proved even more disappointing: adjusted earnings are projected at 15 to 16 cents per share, less than half of the 35 cents per share analysts had anticipated.
Management attributed the shortfall to a volatile combination of surging fuel costs and an unexpected insurance reserve adjustment linked to legacy claims. These factors, alongside sustained investments in hiring and retaining personnel, are expected to weigh on earnings by approximately 18 cents per share compared to the second quarter of 2026. Despite Monday's sharp decline to $30.34, the stock maintains a modest 1.1% gain for the year.
