Comfort Systems shares slipped 5.4% to $1,209.78 in after-hours trading Thursday, even as the HVAC services provider outperformed Wall Street forecasts for the third quarter. Comfort Systems CFO to Retire as Shares Pull Back Despite Earnings Beat

Chief Accounting Officer Julie Shaeff is slated to step into the CFO role once George departs. The leadership transition comes during a period of robust growth for the firm, which reported a third-quarter profit of $489 million, or $13.91 per share. This figure easily surpassed the $12.85 per share expected by analysts polled by FactSet and marked a significant jump from the $291.6 million profit, or $8.25 per share, recorded during the same period last year.

Revenue for the quarter climbed to $3.77 billion, up from $2.45 billion a year ago. Alongside the earnings beat, the company signaled confidence in its cash flow by raising its quarterly dividend by 10 cents to $1.00 per share. This payout, totaling $4.00 annually, will be distributed on Nov. 23 to shareholders of record as of Nov. 12. Despite the current dip, the stock had previously enjoyed a strong year, rising 37% through Thursday's close.
