DoorDash Beats Earnings Estimates as Order Volume Surges

DoorDash outperformed market expectations in the third quarter, reporting a net income of $466 million, or $1.06 per share. This significant jump from the 55 cents per share recorded a year ago stems from a 34% surge in revenue, which reached $4.62 billion, comfortably exceeding the $4.56 billion consensus forecast.

DoorDash Beats Earnings Estimates as Order Volume Surges

The company’s marketplace gross order value climbed 36% to $33.9 billion, fueled by a 28% increase in total orders to 993 million. These figures surpassed analyst projections of $33.58 billion in value and 984 million orders. Growth in the U.S. restaurant category remained a primary driver, bolstered by steady order rates from both veteran users and new customers, alongside rising DashPass subscription numbers.

Beyond core restaurant delivery, the company’s grocery and retail segments maintained double-digit growth. Financial health remains robust, with net cash from operating activities reaching $994 million and free cash flow hitting $787 million. Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, DoorDash anticipates marketplace gross order value between $35.4 billion and $36.4 billion, with adjusted EBITDA forecasted to fall between $900 million and $1.1 billion.
