Scala Inc. Net Profit Plummets to ¥14 Million in First Half

Shift in Operational Margins

The Tokyo-based company reported a revenue decline to ¥4.01 billion, down from ¥4.18 billion in the previous year. This top-line contraction resulted in a pronounced impact on profitability, with operating profit tumbling to ¥56 million from ¥374 million.

The earnings compression was reflected across all key financial metrics:

  • Pretax profit reached ¥45 million, down from ¥361 million.
  • Basic earnings per share fell to ¥0.84 from ¥20.37.
  • Diluted earnings per share matched the basic figure at ¥0.84.
According to the official filing, these results are based on IFRS accounting standards. The sharp decline in margins suggests increased operational costs or a shift in the company's service mix during the six-month period.
