Former Pro Triathlete Collin Chartier Launches 2,000-Mile Run for Recovery

Collin Chartier, once a rising professional triathlete, stood at Boulder’s Potts Field this morning to begin a 2,000-mile journey to Washington, D.C. After a career-ending doping suspension cost him his status, he is now channeling his focus into a cross-country run to raise $100,000 for the Herren Project.

The project, titled Running Home, spans ten states and culminates at the Lincoln Memorial in mid-September. Chartier, who rebuilt his life through breathwork and recovery practices, views the endeavor as a testament to the difficulty of starting over. He is joined on the road by Kevin Murphy, a peer in recovery who is providing logistical support for the duration of the trek.

Throughout the journey, Chartier will host seven community events in cities including Denver, St. Louis, and Pittsburgh. These gatherings, organized alongside local recovery groups and The Phoenix sober active community, feature short runs and discussions on mental health. All donations collected during the campaign go directly to the Herren Project, a non-profit founded by former NBA player Chris Herren to assist those struggling with substance use disorder.
