GSK CEO Luke Miels to Unveil First Results Amid Strategic Pivot

GSK is set to report its fourth-quarter 2025 results this Wednesday, marking the first earnings release under new Chief Executive Luke Miels. Analysts expect the British pharmaceutical giant to post an increase in both revenue and profit, though investor focus remains fixed on how Miels will navigate ambitious long-term targets and shifting U.S. healthcare policies.

According to company-provided consensus estimates, GSK is projected to report quarterly sales of 8.495 billion pounds ($11.61 billion), up from 8.12 billion pounds a year earlier. Core operating profit is expected to climb to 1.53 billion pounds. These figures follow a strong quarter for investors, with GSK shares gaining 9.16% as the market prepared for the leadership transition.

Redefining the 2031 Roadmap

Miels took the helm last month, inheriting a company transformed by Emma Walmsley’s eight-year tenure, which saw doubled R&D spending and a significant reduction in debt. However, the new CEO faces immediate pressure to clarify how GSK will reach its 40-billion-pound sales target. Analysts at J.P. Morgan suggest Miels may need to provide more granular detail on the current drug pipeline to justify these goals, while AJ Bell’s Russ Mould noted that some investors anticipate a potential revision of Walmsley’s "ambitious" 2031 profit margin targets.

Beyond internal strategy, GSK must navigate a tightening regulatory environment in the United States. J.P. Morgan warned that potential Medicaid price cuts under most-favored-nation pricing models could create significant earnings headwinds by 2026. Additionally, UBS analysts highlighted concerns regarding shifting White House recommendations for pediatric vaccines, which could impact the company’s core portfolio.

While GSK has seen strong momentum recently, UBS analysts predict a cooling period for several key growth drivers as patient penetration begins to plateau:

    • The myelofibrosis drug Ojjaara.
    • The immuno-oncology treatment Jemperli.
    • Long-acting HIV therapies.
Miels is expected to address these portfolio challenges directly during Wednesday's call, providing the first real glimpse into his vision for the company's next chapter.
