Ionic Studios and Questar Join Forces to Scale GoTraveler

With North American travel industry digital ad spending surging toward $9.4 billion, Ionic Studios and Questar Entertainment have formed a joint venture to transform GoTraveler into a premium destination for travel advertisers within the competitive free ad-supported streaming television, or FAST, ecosystem.

The new entity, Ionic Questar Holdings, LLC, combines Questar’s four-decade-old library of travel programming—featuring staples like A Cook’s Tour and Rick Steves' Europe—with the technical infrastructure and ad-buying framework of Ionic Studios. While most FAST travel content currently relies on recycled programming and broad, imprecise demographic targeting, the partners intend to shift GoTraveler toward a high-intent, brand-safe environment. By leveraging Ionic’s behavioral and contextual platform, the venture aims to connect travel brands, hospitality firms, and financial services advertisers directly with viewers actively engaged in travel planning.

GoTraveler currently reaches audiences across major platforms including DIRECTV, LG Channels, VIZIO WatchFree+, and Xumo. Under the agreement, Ionic will serve as the Publisher of Record, overseeing ad operations, direct sales execution, and distribution expansion. For Questar, the partnership represents a strategic move to monetize a legacy catalog that has been built since 1985. The venture has already initiated a three-pronged growth strategy focused on expanding platform endpoints, refreshing the programming slate, and securing direct advertiser commitments for the 2026 and 2027 commercial cycles.
