Silverthorn Reserve Debuts with Double Gold Wins in San Francisco

Six months after hitting the market, Baltimore-based Silverthorn Reserve has stunned the industry by securing two Double Gold Medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The brand’s bourbon blend achieved a 98-point rating, propelling it into the finals for the Best-in-Class title in the small-batch category.

The newcomer’s performance in one of the industry's most rigorous blind-tasting events signals a rapid ascent for the ultra-premium label. The Bourbon Blend, an 8-barrel mix aged 10 years, earned unanimous gold status from the panel. Its stablemate, the Rye Blend, followed closely with a 96-point score and a second Double Gold, validating a blending strategy that combines high-malt and high-rye components from Georgia, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Founder and Master Blender Drew Thorn described the achievement as a testament to the harmony of his craft. The Bourbon Blend now awaits the final results on November 8, 2026, to determine if it will claim the top spot in the 6 to 10-year small-batch class. By focusing on intricate, multi-state barrel sourcing, Thorn has managed to secure significant recognition in his brand's inaugural year.
