The property, which sits minutes from downtown Chattanooga, offers a mix of RV sites, cabins, and tent camping. By integrating the site, Open Road Resorts aims to maintain the legacy of the caverns while upgrading campground infrastructure and guest amenities. Co-founders Chase Becker and Jim Omstrom stated that the site’s unique combination of outdoor recreation and geological exploration aligns with their strategy of acquiring high-quality destinations in popular travel corridors.
Founded in 2019, Open Road Resorts now manages nine properties across seven states. The company plans to focus on enhancing the visitor experience at Raccoon Mountain, which already includes a pool, dog park, and guided cavern tours. This purchase is part of a broader expansion effort by the firm, which currently has additional acquisitions and a new development in the Dallas market in its pipeline.
