Butera arrives at the Bridgewater-based biopharmaceutical firm with over two decades of commercial experience across global markets. His mandate includes steering the company’s respiratory therapeutic area, a core pillar of Insmed’s clinical and commercial strategy. He will report directly to Chair and CEO Will Lewis, who highlighted Butera’s track record in navigating competitive therapeutic landscapes as a primary driver for the hire.
Before his tenure at Johnson & Johnson, where he managed a multi-billion-dollar business unit, Butera held senior roles at Novartis. His background includes overseeing the global launch of the CAR-T therapy KYMRIAH and holding leadership positions at Sandoz Biopharmaceuticals. His earlier career includes stints at McKinsey & Company and Goldman Sachs, alongside work with the United Nations. Butera holds a Master in Public Policy from Harvard and a degree in International Economics from Università Bocconi.
