Global Ultra-Wealthy Population Hits Record 556,850

The global ultra-high-net-worth population surged to an all-time high of 556,850 individuals in 2025, marking two consecutive years of double-digit expansion. According to Altrata’s latest report, this elite group now controls $63.8 trillion in wealth, a figure that dwarfs the annual gross domestic product of the United States.

This rapid accumulation of capital represents the strongest growth cycle since 2017. Over the last two years alone, the ranks of those with net worth exceeding $30 million grew by nearly 30%, adding 120,000 new members to the cohort. While North America, Asia, and Europe remain the primary epicenters, holding over 90% of this population, emerging markets are shifting the landscape. Africa led regional growth with a 24% increase, while cities like Seoul and Hong Kong saw gains exceeding 33% and 26% respectively.

Economic and Social Impact

Beyond sheer numbers, the influence of this segment on global markets is profound. These individuals account for $282 billion in annual luxury spending and $220 billion in philanthropic donations. Currently, 1.1% of the world’s millionaires command 32% of that group's total wealth. As the population evolves, Altrata projects a shift in demographics, with female representation expected to climb to 19% by 2040. Looking toward 2030, the forecast suggests a total population of 746,570 individuals possessing $85 trillion in combined assets, with Delhi positioned as the fastest-growing city for ultra-wealth creation.
