The project will utilize the company's proprietary SolBank battery packs, built on lithium-ion phosphate technology. By manufacturing these cells in-house, Canadian Solar promises the utility full supply chain transparency and regulatory compliance. This move addresses the state’s intensifying need for energy storage as solar adoption continues to surge, forcing utilities to manage demand spikes more effectively.
Installation of the storage facility is slated to begin in the latter half of next year, with the system expected to reach commercial operation by early 2028. This Florida venture adds to a recent streak of project wins for the manufacturer, which has expanded its battery footprint into Michigan and southern Italy over the past several days.
