PLS Logistics Services Expands Into Global Freight With AGL Acquisition

Cranberry-based PLS Logistics Services has finalized the acquisition of Weymouth, Massachusetts freight forwarder The AGL Group. The deal marks a strategic push for the third-party logistics provider, integrating international ocean shipping and customs brokerage into its existing North American domestic freight and management service portfolio.

The AGL Group will transition into a wholly owned subsidiary of PLS, maintaining its leadership structure under CEO Steve Zambo, who will report directly to PLS President Steven Bergan. While the financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the move effectively combines AGL’s 40 years of international trade experience with the broader supply chain infrastructure and proprietary technology managed by PLS.

For existing clients, the merger signals an immediate expansion of service capabilities. PLS customers gain access to international drayage and customs brokerage, while AGL’s current client base shifts into a larger, billion-dollar logistics organization. Executives from both firms emphasized that the cultural alignment between the two teams was a primary factor in the agreement, with Bergan highlighting the employee-centric model fostered by Zambo during his tenure at AGL.
