Kubota Expands Kansas Manufacturing Hub to Boost Equipment Output

The first SVL75-3 compact track loader has rolled off the assembly line at the Great Plains Manufacturing facility in Salina, Kansas. This milestone marks a significant step in Kubota’s ongoing effort to localize production, strengthen its North American supply chain, and accelerate delivery speeds for its top-selling construction equipment.

The new production line utilizes a mixed-model approach, allowing the facility to assemble the SVL75-3 alongside the existing SVL65-2. By integrating these models, Kubota aims to refine its manufacturing footprint closer to its primary customer base in the United States and Canada. The expansion is part of a broader strategy that has seen the company commit more than $300 million to its Salina operations over the past several years.

Local and state officials joined company leadership to commemorate the launch, highlighting the role of the Kansas workforce in driving equipment innovation. This production shift complements other recent infrastructure projects in Salina, including a dedicated compact construction equipment test center currently under development. This facility is designed to perform rigorous, real-world durability testing to meet the specific requirements of North American fleet customers.

Since 2016, Kubota has systematically grown its presence in Kansas, starting with construction machinery attachments and followed by the establishment of the Construction Equipment Research and Development North America center in 2021. With this latest expansion, the company is positioning its Great Plains subsidiary as a central hub for construction equipment, balancing these efforts with its established manufacturing facilities in Gainesville and Jefferson, Georgia.
