Rocket One Licenses Air Force Tech for Drone Capture

Rocket One has secured a 12-month evaluation license from the U.S. Department of the Air Force for technology designed to physically capture hostile drones and sever their communication links. The agreement grants the company rights to test methods for neutralizing unmanned vehicles across critical infrastructure and defense sites.

The licensed invention, detailed in U.S. Patent No. 10,239,637 B2, describes a system where a friendly drone deploys a containment unit around a target, utilizing radio-frequency shielding to isolate the device from its operator. Beyond simple physical capture, the patent outlines potential capabilities for signal intelligence, jamming, and localized spoofing.

CEO Robb Knie stated that the company intends to evaluate this physical interception approach alongside its existing Swarm Stage AI platform, which provides drone-swarm threat emulation. The testing phase will focus on potential applications for military bases, airports, border security, and correctional facilities. Rocket One emphasized that this agreement is strictly for evaluation purposes; it does not authorize commercial sales, nor does it constitute an endorsement of the company’s products by the Air Force.
