Milliken’s presentation, titled "The Most Impactful Technology Innovation in Education: Human Connection," arrives as rapid digital shifts dominate the educational landscape. He plans to challenge the summit's audience of funders and entrepreneurs to see interpersonal support as the bedrock of innovation rather than an alternative to it. "When a young person knows there is an adult who believes in them and will stand beside them, we create the conditions for them to learn and realize what is possible," Milliken stated.
This philosophy has guided his organization for nearly five decades. Today, the Communities In Schools network operates in over 3,500 schools, reaching two million students annually by integrating community resources with personalized guidance. His argument finds support in recent data from Opportunity Insights and the Harvard Graduate School of Education, which suggests that combining material resources with trusted relationships significantly improves long-term outcomes for students. Milliken is scheduled to speak at 1:25 p.m. CT on October 8 at the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District, just before the summit’s Mission Cup awards.
