The Seattle-based firm developed AutoRedact to combine artificial intelligence with deterministic rules, allowing legal teams to redact sensitive information at scale. By utilizing the tool’s Detector Lab, practitioners can test redaction instructions on sample documents before applying them to massive datasets. This approach specifically addresses the technical hurdles of Data Subject Access Requests, where systems must obscure third-party information while preserving data relevant to the requester.
Ben Sexton, Senior Vice President of Innovation and Strategy at JND, credited the win to the team’s rigorous testing cycles. The software provides confidence scores for every redaction, enabling legal departments to direct human quality control resources toward the most ambiguous entries. This recognition reinforces JND’s position as one of only two Relativity Platinum Provider Partners, following Sexton’s own AI innovation award in 2024.
