The facility will focus on patients recovering from strokes, brain and spinal injuries, hip fractures, and complex medical conditions like multiple sclerosis. CEO Michael Warrington noted that providing care closer to home helps patients maintain essential support systems during their transition from acute care. The hospital will feature private rooms, a dedicated therapeutic courtyard, and an activities area modeled after home living conditions to assist in regaining daily independence.
An interdisciplinary team, including physicians, physical therapists, and case managers, will staff the center. This North Carolina site is one of several new developments for ClearSky Health, which currently operates 15 hospitals across seven states. Once the Smithfield location opens, the company’s total footprint will grow to 20 facilities nationwide, reflecting a continued push to integrate specialized rehabilitation into regional healthcare networks.
