Nissan Altima Class Action Targets Airbag Sensor Defects

A federal class action lawsuit filed in California alleges that 2013–2018 Nissan Altima vehicles contain a critical flaw in their occupant classification systems. Plaintiffs claim the front passenger seat sensors frequently fail to detect adults, potentially preventing the airbag from deploying during a collision and leaving occupants unprotected.

The complaint, filed by McCune Law Group in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, details how the passenger airbag warning light remains illuminated or indicates an 'OFF' status even when the front seat is occupied by an adult. This malfunction, identified in case Cass et al. v. Nissan North America Inc., creates a significant safety risk by disabling protective systems when they are needed most.

Legal representatives are currently seeking contact from owners who purchased or leased these specific model-year vehicles through authorized Nissan dealerships. The firm is evaluating claims from drivers regardless of whether they have already incurred out-of-pocket repair costs. McCune Law Group operates on a contingency basis, meaning legal fees are tied to recovery outcomes for the class members.
