Co-founded by Lorenzo Antinori, Bar Leone draws its inspiration from the traditional bars of Rome’s Trastevere district. Its philosophy, dubbed 'Cocktail Popolari' or 'cocktails for the people,' prioritizes straightforward service and high-quality drinks. This consistency allowed the bar to hold its position at the top of the list in a field featuring participants from 26 cities and 14 new entries.
The 2026 rankings showcase a diverse international landscape. Following Bar Leone, the top five includes Milan's Moebius Milano at No. 2, Cartagena's Alquímico at No. 3, Bangkok's Bar Us at No. 4, and Athens' Line at No. 5. Line also received the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award, while Alquímico was recognized with the Michter's Art of Hospitality Award.
Individual and category honors were distributed across the globe. Shingo Gokan received the Roku Industry Icon Award, while Takuma Watanabe was named Altos Bartenders' Bartender. Other notable winners include Mexico City’s Bar Mauro, which earned the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award at No. 10, and Athens’ The Bar in Front of the Bar, which climbed 28 places to secure the Nikka Highest Climber Award. Barcelona’s Paradiso was honored as the Rémy Martin Legend of the List, and New York’s Schmuck claimed the Three Cents Best New Opening Award.
