Founder and CEO Michael Kempner has steered the firm through a period of rapid expansion, nearly doubling revenue from $38 million in 2020 to its current standing. This growth follows a series of strategic maneuvers, including the acquisitions of Berk Communications and HudsonLake, alongside the development of its proprietary AI platform, PRISMA. By maintaining a single-P&L structure, the agency claims it retains the agility of a challenger while securing the scale necessary to compete with holding-company giants for major global accounts.
Kempner emphasizes that while AI and advanced analytics now underpin the agency's operations, the core value remains high-level human judgment. As the firm enters its fifth decade, its leadership is focusing on a "Reputation Ecosystem" that integrates corporate, consumer, and crisis communications. Recent talent acquisitions, including senior hires from Weber Shandwick and Edelman, signal an intent to further bolster its intelligence and integrated media capabilities. Despite its increased scale, the agency maintains that its primary competitive advantage remains the ability to provide clients with direct access to senior counsel without the bureaucratic friction typical of larger, consolidated competitors.
