Hokuyu Lucky Swings to Net Loss as Half-Year Profits Evaporate

A 33 million yen net loss marks a sharp reversal for Hokuyu Lucky Co. Ltd., as the Japanese firm’s financial performance collapsed during the six months ending August 31. The company, which posted a 22 million yen profit in the same period last year, now faces significant headwinds in its core operations.

Revenue dipped slightly to 18.34 billion yen from 18.48 billion yen, yet the impact on the bottom line was disproportionately severe. Operating profit plummeted from 57 million yen to just 7 million yen, while a pretax profit of 47 million yen a year ago swung into an 11 million yen loss. These figures, prepared under Japanese accounting standards, translate to a loss per share of 26.51 yen, a stark contrast to the 17.67 yen earnings recorded in 2025. Despite the current deficit, the company maintains its year-end dividend forecast of 50 yen per share, mirroring the previous year's payout.
